What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a rehabilitative physical therapy that helps children and adults to improve from any Form of physical disability that is caused due to neuro-developmental disorders or brain and spine Related disorders or injuries. This is done using manual therapy, movement & exercise, muscle & Nerve stimulation, education and advice.

What happens during Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy usually begins with a detailed evaluation by a qualified physiotherapist who will identify the type of disorder or the cause of the injury / illness & the best way to treat it.

Physiotherapy for children

For your child, physiotherapy may take place in a independent treatment area where each child will be individually evaluated. Physiotherapy exercises and activities are then designed depending on your child’s disorder, age, and needs. These may include:

  • Stretching and strengthening activities and exercises to increase a child’s range and quality of movement.
  • Active and passive exercises for the limbs.
  • Improving postural control & core strength.
  • Gait (walking) training.
  • Evaluating the need for adaptive equipment & orthopedic devices (if required).
  • Provide strategies and homework for the child and parent or caregiver on how to

do physiotherapy exercises at home.

………and much more (depending on the child’s condition).

How long do you need Physiotherapy?

The amount of time a person needs physiotherapy depends on a few factors, including:

  • Their age
  • Frequency of therapy
  • Underlying medical condition
  • Treatment of an underlying medical condition
  • Type and severity of the physical disorder
