What Is IMPRESSC therapy?
IMPRESSC therapy is a specially designed group based therapy activity for children with autism and ADHD. IMPRESSC stands for Integrated Motor Play to Rapidly Enhance Social Skills and Cognition.This is a unique programme done exclusively at Parijma. It has been designed by the pediatric neurologists, Occupational therapists and child psychologists of Parijma.
Why do children with autism & neuro-developmental disorders need IMPRESSC therapy ?
Over the course of our 30 years of experience with children with autism, what we have realised is that many children with autism (after intensive early intervention, speech therapy & /or occupational therapy), improve well, but still end up having residual impulsivity, poor social skills and mild to moderate cognitive issues.
To address these issues, we have created IMPRESSC therapy. Though it is still a work in progress, we have already seen a good number of children graduate from this course and move onto mainstream.
What happens in IMPRESSC therapy ?
For this therapy, our autistic children who have improved with early intervention therapy (fair response and cognition), but who still have residual impulsivity, poor social & other cognitive skills are hand-picked and selected into groups based on their skill levels.
The child psychologist or the Occupational therapist then guides them through a range of specially designed physical, social and mental activities. These activities are graded into different levels from beginner levels to higher levels.
Once the child has accomplished the initial individual activity levels, they are then paired with children with comparable skills and guided through a range of goal oriented cooperative and competitive games to help improve their bonding, social skills, analytical thinking, sense of accomplishment etc. We use standard as well as our own custom designed therapy equipments & props for this purpose.

IMPROV THERAPY
At Parijma, we have now, also started online neuro-rehabilitation therapy called as IMPROV therapy which includes the entire multi-disciplinary rehabilitative therapies and this can be done comfortably sitting at home. Our respective department therapists will guide the child and the parent and do the entire therapy online. All that you will need is a smartphone & a stable internet connection.
