The history of Pediatric Neurology in India is a story of dedication, perseverance, collegiality and shared vision. What is now a well-established and rapidly advancing specialty beginning, only a few decades ago, on a modest scale. Its development was initiated by a small group of neurologists who recognized that children with neurological disorders required specialized care distinct from that provided within adult neurology.
As we look back in 2026, it is appropriate to document the important milestones that shaped the development of Pediatric Neurology in India and to acknowledge the pioneers who laid its foundations.
